Georgia Power has two series of HYWX five bay rapid discharge aluminum open hoppers:
| HYWX Series | Built | Capacity | GRL |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2001-2700 | 4400 cf | 286,000 | |
| 99000-99424 | 1999 | 4418 cf | 286,000 |
These HYWX cars are usually seen mixed in with Georgia Power's HBWX Hoppers. The first two digits of the car number indicate the year the car was built.
Georgia Power also has cars marked RWSX, for cars assigned to the Scherer plant, but they haul coal from the Powder River Basin, so they never show up in the Appalachian hills of VA/WV.
(Thanks to Kevin Brown to proving much of the above information.)
