HBWX Open Hoppers

HBWX is one of the reporting marks for Georgia Power. It is used for cars assigned to the Wansley plant.

Georgia Power has two series of HBWX five bay rapid discharge aluminum open hoppers:

The first two digits of the car number indicate the year the car was built.

These HBWX cars are usually seen mixed in with Georgia Power's HYWX Hoppers.

Georgia Power also has cars marked RWSX, for cars assigned to the Scherer plant, but they haul coal from the Powder River Basin, so they never show up in the Appalachian hills of VA/WV.
