NW CF This class CF caboose, with a faded number could possibly be 518024, 518026, 518124, 518126, or maybe something else entirely, was at a temporary location in Eggleston on January 2003. It has since moved to a nearby location on private property.

NW 518436 Looking like it has seen better times, class C-2 caboose N&W 518436 is at a playground on US 52 on the west end of Welch, WV.

NW 518459 Class C-3 caboose N&W 518459 is on display at the "Boissevain Coal Miners Memorial Museum and Park" in Boissevain, VA. It was built in May 1958 according to the consolidated stencil.

NW 518505(2) NW 518505(2) N&W 518505(2) is a class C-31 car on display at St. Paul, VA. It has been renumbered to 24283, the Zip Code for St. Paul.

NW 518634 N&W 518634 sits on Railroad street opposite the former depot in Rural Retreat, VA.

NW 518665 N&W 518665 is on display at the 'Caboose Park' (the Blacksburg Municipal Park) off Turner St. in Blacksburg, VA. All markings have been painted over, leaving just the underframe markings to identify it. Also see a closeup of one of the trucks.

NW 530302 (C-30)
NW 530302 Class C-30 caboose N&W 530302 at Pocahontas, VA. Originally Virginian class C10 caboose 302, it was built, according to the consolidated stencil, in June 1947.

NW 530333 (C-30A)
NW 530333 C-30A caboose N&W 530333 is on display at Kimball, WV. Built in 12-57, the consolidated stencil erroneously shows a build date of 4-47. It was last inspected 7-81 at Princeton.

NW 530335 (C-30A)
NW 530335 N&W 530335 is a C-30A on display at Bramwell, WV. It was built, according to the consolidated stencil, in September 1957. It has since been moved across the street to the refurbished depot.

NW 530339 (C-30A)
NW 530339 C-30A caboose N&W 530339 is parked at Matewan, WV. Built in 11-58, it was last inspected 4-78 at Princeton. Once used as the town visitor's center, it now sits forlornly outside the floodwall around the town, in sight of the new visitor's center in the rebuilt depot.

NW 530344 / VGN 344 (N&W C-30A / VGN C10A)
VGN 344 N&W 530344 is in display in Altavista, VA, painted as its original identity as Virginian class C10A caboose 344. Built in 5-59, and last inspected 1-80 at Princeton.

NW 530349 (C-30A)
NW 530349 N&W 530349 is on display in Tazewell, VA. Although all markings have been painted over, its true identity is still visible on the underframe. Located at Linconshire Park on VA Route 61.

NW 555025 (C-32)
NW 555025 N&W 555025 is on display near the Soccer fields at Green Hill Park in Salem, VA. It is stenciled as having been restored by the "Roanoke Valley Central Railway".

NW 555049 (C-32P)
NW 555049 N&W 555049 is a class C-32P now serving the Pinnacle little league in Shinbrier, WV. The consolidated stencil shows a built date of 6-76 and a rebuilt date of 5-79.

NW 557069 (C-37)
NW 557069 N&W 557069, previously Akron, Canton & Youngstown 69, was originally built in 1947. It is on display at the New River Trail State Park in Galax, VA.

NW 557519 (C-6P)
NW 557519 NW 557519 N&W 557519 (NKP 419) is in Berwind, WV. Donated by the railroad to the Berwind Volunteer Fire Department, it sits between the fire station, the Masonic Lodge, and a church on WV Route 9.

NW 557544 (C-6P)
NW 557544 N&W 557544, formerly Nickel Plate Road 444, is displayed at the Belfast Elementary School on US Route 19 in Belfast, VA.

NW 557546 (C-6P)
NW 557546 N&W 557546, formerly Nickel Plate Road 446, is a C-6P that was stored at Glade Spring, VA. It was in the company of Long Island caboose LIRR 58 and fake Winston Salem Southbound Railway WSSB 671 along with five or so other cars including this old Central of Georgia Box Car with their "The Right Way" slogan showing through the fading paint.

As of 10 March 2002, this caboose was spotted in the yard at Roanoke, VA; its waybilled destination, if not it's ultimate destination, was Hollidaysburg, PA.

NW 557547 N&W 557547, formerly Nickel Plate Road 447, is a C-6P on display at Glen Lyn, VA. It was built at Conneaut by the NKP in December 1960 (according to the consolidated stencil).

NW 557550 N&W 557550, former Nickel Plate Road 450, is on display at Honaker, VA.

NW 557558 N&W 557558, former Nickel Plate Road 458, is in Bedford, VA.

NW 557562 N&W 557562, formerly Nickel Plate Road 462, is on display at Coulwood, VA. Despite the Norfolk & Western 518037 number (in the CF class number series) painted on the side, the ACI label) reveals its true identity.

NW 557591 N&W 557591, the former Nickel Plate Road 459, is secure behind a fence and barbed wire, perhaps to protect it from the children that attend Montcalm Elementary School directly across WV Route 71 in Montcalm, WV.

NW 557709 (C-8)
NW 557709 NW 557709 N&W 557709 is an N&W class C8 caboose preserved at Coeburn, VA. The consolidated stencil fails to show a build date, but the C8 class cabooses were built by the Wheeling & Lake Erie in 1949 at their Ironville, OH shops. The 24230 number on the side is the zip code for Coeburn. The white specs in the images are snow flurries.

N&W 557761 is a C-9P built by the W&LE Ironville Shops for the Nickel Plate as NKP 761. This is the class car of the C9 and C9P N&W series 557761-557784 is on display at Bluefield, WV. The detail shot of the consolidated stencil shows a built date of 8-54, despite being the 'first' car in the series reported to have been built in "1953 and 1954" according to the book Norfolk and Western Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment (Morning Sun).

NW 557769 N&W 557769 of class C-9P, built July 1953, is on display at Oakvale, WV. It has a nice view of the Virginian high bridge (in the background). See also a detail shot of the consolidated stencil on the car.

NW 557784 N&W 557784 rests next to the conbined Police Dept. and Municipal Court building along US 52 in Iaeger, WV.

NW 562807 N&W 562807 is an N&W class C18 caboose preserved at Appalachia, VA. The consolidated stencil shows a build date of January 1948, when it was constructed by the Wabash's Decatur Shops as WAB 2807.

NW 562833 N&W 562833 is pictured at the McDonald's restaurant in Richlands, VA in 2004. The inside has been converted into a dining room for small parties. As of September 2005, the caboose has been removed to an unknown fate.

NW 562836 (C-18)
NW 562836 NW 562836 This N&W class C18 caboose is on display in Pulaski, VA. The only evidence of the car's identify is this faint mark on the underframe(WARNING: full size 521K 1600x1200 image), which as near as I can tell reads "NW 562836" - but I might be wrong about the last two digits.
