NS Articulated Bi-Level Autoracks

The April 2001 Official Railway Equipment Register shows that Norfolk Southern has three series of articulated bi-level Thrall auto racks totalling over a thousand cars. All are AAR Car Type V778, with an inside length of 69' 10" (per unit), and an outside length of 143' 10". Extreme height above rail is 19' 0", with a gross rail load of 242,000 pounds.
