Memorial Weekend Excursions 2002

On Memorial Day weekend 2002, the Central New York chapter of the National Railway Historical Society (CNYNRHS) sponsored some passenger excursions over the Finger Lakes Railway. The trips were run in conjunction with the Finger Lakes Scenic Railway, and the equipment used varied each day.

Saturday, May 25th
The Saturday trip was an all-day trip from Solvay to Geneva and back. It was pulled by CNYNRHS's pair of DL&W E8's, 807 and 808. They pulled six passenger cars, four NYSW and Finger Lakes Scenic Railway's two repainted former VIA cars. FGLK 1751 brought up the rear, and lead the return trip to Solvay.

Sunday, May 26th
On Sunday, they ran a couple of round-trips between Solvay and Skaneateles Junction. Other obligations prevented me from riding or chasing that trip.

Monday, May 27th
On Monday, they ran a couple of round-trips between Geneva and Auburn. I rode the morning trip from Geneva to Auburn and return, and chased the afternoon run. The train was pulled eastbound by FGLK 1751, with the westbound runs pulled by B23-7 FGLK 2301. The consist was just four passenger cars, Finger Lakes Scenic Railway's two cars with NYSW 530 and 532.
