Finger Lakes Railway Double Plug Door Box Cars

FGLK 24000-24023 are 50' 6" inside length excess height box cars with double 8' 0" wide plug doors. These 6157 cu ft, Plate F cars were built 7-72 and 8-72 as part of Pacific Car & Foundry Lot No 62-66-410. The door and interior height is 12' 0".

These cars are originally from the series MILW 4500-4599. A subset of 25 of the MILW cars were transferred to CP 87000-87024 in 1988 and relettered CPAA same numbers in 1992-1993. These appear to have left the CP roster in October 2000. The FGLK cars are the former CPAA 87000-87005, 87007-87024, renumbered in order, although the cars transfered to CP numbers seems to have been picked at random from the MILW series.

A photo of MILW 4536 appears on the 50' Boxcars page of Rick Beaber's Milwaukee Road Freight Car Photo Roster site. The photo of MILW 4536 was taken 4/96, and as of 4 January 2002 it still shows up on an equipment trace, so it didn't become an FGLK car.

Currently, these cars are used by Finger Lakes Railway to service Bailee Lumber in Waterloo, NY.
