Elliston (East) SHAWSVILLE (West) Arthur
Shawsville is about midway between the start of the climb at Elliston and the tunnels at Montgomery. The former site of the station here provides a convenient place to photograph trains, although all that remains of the station is the former team track.

ECP Train 722
One of the first ECP trains of Clover coal passes Shawsville on 25 March 2008, with three 7600 series GEVOs on the head end and two more 7600 series locos in DPU on the rear. The train itself was 100 brand-new NS class H67 Trinity RD-VI hoppers.

These two early 1990s photos were taken the same day, not long after the Shawsville Tunnel was daylighted. A C30-7 heads up a slow moving rail train (that was picking up used ribbon rail around the curve) at the site of the former tunnel, and an empty hopper train passes under the signal bridge just east of the first location.

Train 823 crosses Blankenship Road in November 2003, and two weeks later in December 2003 snow had transformed the view for train 185.

During maintenance work in April 2003, a temporary 'conditional stop' sign was placed at milepost 281.0 on main 1 to protect track workers on main 2. Trains needing to pass the work zone are not allowed to pass the conditional stop sign without receiving permission from the track foreman. Having previously received permission to pass the conditional stop sign at the other end of the work zone at Singer, train 765 approaches the other end of the work zone at restricted speed.

A top hat brings train 185 west in December 2001, and an empty coal train approaches the grade crossing in June 2001 as seem from the north side of the grade crossing.
