One of the first ECP trains of Clover coal passes Shawsville on 25 March 2008, with three 7600 series GEVOs on the head end and two more 7600 series locos in DPU on the rear. The train itself was 100 brand-new NS class H67 Trinity RD-VI hoppers.

These two early 1990s photos were taken the same day, not long after the Shawsville Tunnel was daylighted. A C30-7 heads up a slow moving rail train (that was picking up used ribbon rail around the curve) at the site of the former tunnel, and an empty hopper train passes under the signal bridge just east of the first location.

Train 236 passes the John Farm on its eastbound descent in June 2005.

NS 951 Office Car Special climbs the hill behind a pair of spit-shined SD70Ms. This train was also photographed at Elliston.

A "thoroughbred" eases downhill on the other side of the field in this scene from September 2004.

Train 274 rounds the curve past the John Farm behind two EMDs, and a heavy train 185 approaches the Oldtown road grade crossing behind SD60 6554 and three other motors in May 2004.

Grinding uphill through the sharp curves in Shawsville, UP 2002 pulls train 147 under overcast skies in May 2004. This train was also photographed at Singer, Green Hill, Montgomery Tunnels and Cambria.

A solid consist of three high hood locomotives pulls the hill with train Q67 in February 2004.

A trio of Union Pacific locomotives head a six unit consist on train 185 in January 2004.

Train 823 crosses Blankenship Road in November 2003, and two weeks later in December 2003 snow had transformed the view for train 185.

An empty hopper train lead by an SD60 approaches the Basham Hollow Road grade crossing in August 2003.

Conductor Shepard brings a repainted ex-Conrail SD40-2 through Shawsville in June 2003.

During maintenance work in April 2003, a temporary 'conditional stop' sign was placed at milepost 281.0 on main 1 to protect track workers on main 2. Trains needing to pass the work zone are not allowed to pass the conditional stop sign without receiving permission from the track foreman. Having previously received permission to pass the conditional stop sign at the other end of the work zone at Singer, train 765 approaches the other end of the work zone at restricted speed.

A top hat brings train 185 west in December 2001, and an empty coal train approaches the grade crossing in June 2001 as seem from the north side of the grade crossing.
