Ripplemead (East) PEARISBURG (West) Narrows
At one time known as Bluff City, the Pearisburg station used to be right below where the US 460 bridges cross the tracks and the New River. The former station site is still sometimes used for storage of Maintenance of Way equipment.

North (track east) of the station site, the Pearisburg signals marks the start of double track all the way to Bluefield and the mostly single track run along the river from Walton.

The Whitethorne District tracks serve Celco across the river from here.

Three different westbounds on three consecutive weekends in September 2005. This view has been (re)opened recently thanks to the clearing of trees from under a power line. In the first photo, a Union Pacific SD70M leads train 185. In the next two, train 815 takes a string of empty hoppers back to Norton, with Marshall Concrete and the Wades grocery store visible in the background. In the last photo, a Chicago and North Western widecab 8646 (one of only a few remaining C&NW units not remarked for Union Pacific) leads train 769 under the US 460 overpasses.

A work train is parked on the siding by the old Pearisburg station site in July 2001, seen from a temporary pedestrian walkway (now removed) on the US 460 westbound bridge. The walkway on the eastbound bridge was recently rebuilt with a large chain-link fence that makes photography difficult.
