North Fork is the west end of a siding along the north fork of the Roanoke
River east of Ellett. The signal at the east end of the siding is called Fagg.
In a heavy February 2006 snowstorm, train 894 eases downgrade just west of the siding at North Fork, Later than afternoon, westbound train 17M makes a rare appearance on the Whitethorne District due to a derailment near the Montgomery Tunnels on its usual Christiansburg District route.
Train 754 passes the 'brick house crossing' in October 2003.
SD60 6557 leads grain train 52K at North Fork. Having been pushed over the hill from Whitethorne, the train stopped short of clearing the switch for the siding. The pushers, lead by a primered Catfish, cut off and enter the siding to wait for a coal train 764, that made the hill unassisted behind high-hood former N&W SD40-2 1633.
Powered by a pair of UP locomotives, train 772 passes the brick house by the North Fork Road grade crossing in June 2003.
