Train 23G rolls eastward at track speed, while Train 112 holds the siding at
Newbern, in these September 2004 photos from the Cougar Trail Road overpass.
23G is seen first passing a short stretch of derail track, all that remains
of the rail spur into the Volvo Truck Plant. Volvo eliminated its rail
access during a plant expansion in the mid 90s. The plant can be seen in
the background of the second picture, while in the foreground, hundreds of
Ford F150 truck frames stacked ten high on flat cars, zip by toward the
Ford assembly plant at Norfolk. After train 23G clears, train 112 exits
the siding and continues west.
