East of the town of Narrows is a massive trestle built in 1971, used to funnel
eastbounds onto the Virginian. This bridge replaced the one at Kellysville
used for the same purpose. The former VGN right-of-way between Glen Lyn and
Narrows is now the eastbound lanes of US 460.
The Norfolk & Western's Narrows Branch started at Narrows and followed Wolf Creek southwest to Suiter, Virginia. It was first built a few miles up the creek to haul timber products to a tanery at Narrows. By 1912 the New River, Holdston and Western Railroad Company was operating as far as Rocky Gap, VA, and to Suiter by 1914. The Norfolk and Western purchased the NRH&W in 1919 and operated the line as their Narrows Branch until November 21, 1946.
The Norfolk and Western station is currently used by NS as a base for MoW vehicles.
West of the town of Narrows, Lurich Road parallels the tracks all the way to Glen Lyn.
