Cambria (East) CHRISTIANSBURG (West) Chrismans Mill
Christiansburg is the town closest to the summit of the Christiansburg District's climb up and down the ridge between the New River and Roanoke River valleys. The former station site is covered on the Cambria page.

NS 9425 Train 811
The autumn leaves are just a memory as train 53R takes empty grain hoppers back to the midwest on the last day of November 2005.
A couple weeks later the first significant snowfall had arrived overnight, but has already started melting away. By midafternoon it will be nearly gone.

After delivering two loaded covered hoppers to Southern States (see the Cambria page, V29 returns to Radford with two empties behind their caboose in May 2005. But their work is not yet done this evening, they will pick up the rest of their train and head down-river.
In June 2005, train 236 climbs uphill on main 1 at the former (now closed) Railroad Street grade crossing. The results of the spring maintance work on main 2 is clearly evident in the look of brighter ballast.

A BNSF motor and logoless replacement door break up the monotony of the endless parade of Catfish as train 185 rolls downhill in March 2004.

Tophat 8888 leads train 755 by the Pelton signals and under US 460 Business in November 2003.

A pair of SD60s brings train 823 through Christiansburg in February 2003.

Eastbound Train 125, lead by catfish 9497 with the Maersk-Sealand painted unit behind it, is approaching Christiansburg in February 2003.

NS 2565 NS 8399
In January 2003, train 236 was lead east by two SD70's, including a Union Pacific SD70M with flares and flags. Soon after, a blue ex-CR C40-8 leads train 147 west at the same location.
